With interest rates and housing supply increasing, Metro <\/span>Vancouver<\/span> home buyers are operating in a changing marketplace to begin the summer season. <\/span><\/span><\/span>The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) reports that residential <\/span>home <\/span>sales in the <\/span>region totalled <\/span>2,44<\/span>4 <\/span>in <\/span>June 2022<\/span>, a <\/span>35 <\/span>percent decrease from the <\/span>3,762 <\/span>sales recorded in <\/span>June <\/span>2021<\/span>, and <\/span>a<\/span>16.<\/span>2 <\/span>percent <\/span>decrease <\/span>from the <\/span>2,918 <\/span>homes sold in <\/span>May 2022<\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Last mont<\/span>h’s sales were <\/span>23.3 <\/span>percent b<\/span>elow <\/span>the 10<\/span>–<\/span>year <\/span>June <\/span>sales average.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Home buyers have more selection to choose from and more time to make decis<\/span>ions than they <\/span>did over the past year<\/span>,” Daniel John, REBGV Chair said. “Rising interest rates and inflationary <\/span>concerns are making buyers more cautious in today’s housing market<\/span>, which is allowing listings<\/span>
to accumulate.<\/span>”<\/span><\/span><\/span>

There were <\/span>5,2<\/span>56 <\/span>detached, attached and apartment properties newly listed for sale on the <\/span>Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) i<\/span>n Metro Vancouver in <\/span>June 2022<\/span>. This represents a <\/span>10.1 <\/span>per<\/span>cent <\/span>decrease <\/span>compared to the <\/span>5,849 <\/span>homes listed in<\/span>June 2021 <\/span>and a<\/span>17.<\/span>6 <\/span>percent <\/span>decrease <\/span>compared to<\/span>May 2022 <\/span>when <\/span>6,377 <\/span>homes were listed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The total number of <\/span>homes<\/span> currently listed for sale on the MLS® system in Metro Vancouver is <\/span>10,425<\/span>, a<\/span>3.8<\/span>percent <\/span>decrease <\/span>compared to <\/span>June 2021<\/span>(<\/span>10,839<\/span>) and a <\/span>4.1 <\/span>percent <\/span>increase <\/span>compared to <\/span>May 2022<\/span>(<\/span>10,010<\/span>).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
