Moving Checklist Part 1
Pre-Move

Start packing/purchase packing materials – donate and dispose of unnecessary household items at this time. Label all boxes with the room they will be going to in your new home

Arrange for a moving company

Obtain all records: Dentist, doctor, optometrist, specialists, school if moving out of area

Just Before or Just After Move

Change of address to: Driver's licence, medical services plan, credit card accounts, friends/relatives, subscriptions, parcel deliveries (Amazon)

Forward mail for up to a year through the post office, to ensure you updated your address change properly

Notify insurance companies: health, life, auto and home

Transfer all bank accounts if necessary

Have home cleaned

After Move

Leave keys and any instructions for home with your REALTOR®

In your new home, make sure all appliances and utilities are working

Consider changing locks and access codes to your new home

Locate main water shut-off, electrical panel and ensure smoke and CO2 detectors are in working order
