Christmas Light Viewing Guide

It is that time of year again, the holidays are nearing...and who doesn't like bringing a little bright light in to these short and dark days?

With the rain and cold on the way we think it is the perfect time to set out and look for some Christmas lights; but deciding where to go can be a hard task. So we've asked the question for you...

Who has the best lights? And where are they?

Inside Vancouver:

Perhaps the most comprehensive list of professional displays can be found at Inside Vancouver with twenty-five events from Harrison Hot Springs to North Vancouver.

Highlighting a few events in each area these are our top picks from their list:

Lights at Lafarge Lake:

It's free, and convenient for anyone in the Tri City area. Plus it is located steps away from the SkyTrain for those travelling in. The kick-off is on November 26th from 5-8pm. There will be food vendors, roving performers, family crafts and more for the duration of the even which is set to run through the end of December. Bring the whole family and walk the wounderfully lit loop around Larfarge.

Light Walk at Grouse Mountain:

With the slogan 'Brighten Your Night On Grouse Mountain' this nightly activity is only one of Grouse's many seasonal offerings and it can be paired with ice skating, a visit from Santa, and a dinner out.

Specifically Grouse has this to say about their light walk;

"Experience magic in the trees on our enchanting Light Walk, open through the winter season starting at dusk. The entrance is marked by a glowing light tunnel, just off of the mountaintop Skating Pond. Lights along the path around Blue Grouse Lake allow you to snowshoe or walk in the winter night. Marvel at the beauty with snow crunching underfoot. The glow of light against a majestic mountain backdrop is not to be missed!"

Bear Creek Winterfest:

With the Stanely Park Christmas Train not running this year Bear Creek's offering is the only festive train in town! During the day visitors can meet Santa and take home an activity bag. Nightly the Bear Creek train comes alive to take you on an adventure through a delightful Christmas light display. Tickets are $12.60, and kids under two are free.
