Port Moody's Embraces An Eventful, Community Driven, Spring (Upcoming Events)

Spring is in the air...

& people are looking for new activites, date nights, new experiences, & ways to become ingrained in Port Moody's Community.

Luckily for new and lifelong residents of all ages the city of Port Moody has a stellar events calendar—in full bloom—and ripe with activites throughout the opening weeks of spring. Currently the city has events schedualed for ten days over the next six weeks; from plays/film screenings and cultural dance, to curated craft beer tastings, author presentations, live music, and a city wide garage sale--the aptly named city of the arts has you covered.

Laughing Matters:

Gaby Davis Foundation’s 5th Annual Comedy Night, Laughing Matters, is back to raise funds to support families affected by childhood cancer in British Columbia. Come out for a night of laughter and fun and raise funds for a great cause.

Lets Murder Matilda!:

Asen Blatechki, Nikolai Urumov and... a gun are the main actors in the lyrical comedy "Let's Kill Matilda" by the author and director Orlin Dyakov.

The story begins in a seemingly ordinary way - with two men and a bench in the park. The crazy ideas of one, in combination with the weapon of the other, lead to a number of interesting incidents caused by the actions of a woman - for one she is a wife, and for the other - a lover. (performed in Bulgarian)

Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom (Film Night):

Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom - A young teacher in modern Bhutan, Ugyen, shirks his duties while planning to go to Australia to become a singer. As a reprimand, his superiors send him to the most remote school in the world, a glacial Himalayan village called Lunana, to complete his service.

City Wide Garage Sale:

Start cleaning out the crawl space! Port Moody’s City-Wide Garage Sale happens on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Register your house by April 10, and we’ll advertise your sale online and in the Tri-City News at no cost to you. This is also a great opportunity to give away gently used goods your family no longer uses. 

Bargain hunters, look for a list of participating households online after April 12, 2023.

Close-Up International Film Festival:

The Festival screens short experimental, documentary, fiction and animated films from Canada and around the world. This edition of the festival is focused on family, human rights, and woman-life-freedom motto. Prizes of $4,000 will be awarded to best films picked by the jury. Filmmakers will be competing in four categories: International, Canadian, Indigenous, and Student short films.

Author and broadcaster telling stories from his bestselling books with all-star musical guests! Join local raconteur-extraordinaire Grant Lawrence for an evening to remember, as he brings his hit “Stories and Songs” touring show to Port Moody for the first time, a make-good for a show booked before the pandemic. Get ready for a long-awaited evening filled with true stories about outlandish coastal characters from past and present.

The Rotary Club of Port Moody is holding our annual Search for the Perfect Pint Craft Beer Tasting Event. A ticket will include finger food, live entertainment and Craft Beer Tasting.

Roses of Bulgaria (Music & Dance):

"Roses of Bulgaria" is organized by the Zornitza Dance Ensemble and is a presentation of Bulgarian music and dance. A number of Bulgarian and International folk dance groups from Canada and USA will be performing.
